Our Story
SML Landscape Design has been helping customers love their yards in Smith Mountain Lake, Hardy, Roanoke, and beyond for almost a decade. With hundreds customers across Southwest Virginia, we love our clients and our work, but getting here was a long journey.
Owner Sean Beckner began SML Landscape Design out of necessity at a time in his life that requireed resilience, humility, and determination. Seeking an honest way to rebuild and move forward, Sean took on every opportunity he could find.
One day, while he was mowing a lawn, he had a revelation. Working outdoors on God’s green earth, serving other’s through hands on service was a beautiful, purposeful, and fulfilling way to spend his life.
After getting permission from his employer to take on some smaller jobs that he didn’t want, Sean began to gradually build his own business and a strong reputation, one job at a time into what it is today.
Sean Beckner understands building a landscape and a life with vision, patience and care.
Today, he’s a proud husband and father of five running a successful business. He loves spending time with his wife and kids, especially on te baseball field, wrestling mat, cheerleading competitions, and anywhere they’re competing. Rooted in family and faith, Sean also enjoys time outdoors and anything to do with theme parks and Harry Potter.
